Emma, do you want to live a life of freedom and adventure? Are you wanting more than the daily grind? Me too. Welcome to the Emma Lovell, show a place where we talk about living a life you love. Now I'm your host, Emma Lovell, and my number one value is freedom. I've spent the last 14 years running a business and traveling the world, and now I take my husband and toddler along for the adventure too. It's possible, and I know you can create a life doing what you truly love as well. This podcast will inspire, motivate and encourage you to go after your dreams, to create a life you love and to live it now, not wait for a time and or someday in the future, I'll be sharing episodes weekly about how I harmonize business travel and self care. I'll also bring on incredible guests to share their journeys, the wins, the challenges, and how they're creating a life they love. Let's jump in and get dreaming. This is a space for you to manifest a life you love.
01:03
I would like to acknowledge and recognize Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first peoples of this place, now known as Australia. I am grateful for the continuing care of the land, waterways and skies where I work, live, listen, learn and play from here on, you can bear country and from wherever you are listening, I pay my respects to the elders past and present.
01:25
Hello, Lovell and welcome to today's very exciting episode. I am introducing you to the pleasure coach. It's me. I am Emma Lovell the pleasure coach. Now you might already know that from the work I've been doing. But what is happening today is you will see a change to the podcast. You will see a new cover, and if you head on over to my website, Emma lovell.au you will see a whole new website, a whole new look. Everything is new. Everything is updated. Everything is now aligned with this mission, with this work that I'm doing, my heart's work, my my true north, and that is to combine business travel and self care to live a life that we love. Now,
02:16
it's been quite a journey, and if you've been with me for a while, you will have seen a change. It's actually been nearly 18 months since I sort of made this transition. I was operating my business for 14 years as lovely communications, and then in September 2023 I changed working as a personal brand. My name Emma Lovell. Now, at the time, I didn't I was calling myself a business travel life coach, and I hadn't really sort of settled into, I guess, my pleasure group. I hadn't really owned that yet, but I had realized there was an alignment
02:59
and harmony in the way that I did things, and that was with huge thanks to my gorgeous brand strategist and dear friend Liv Muir, who I actually had a dinner with her and we she said, it's quite sweet, actually. Said, Hey, I think we could be business friends, or I think we could be friends. And so we had a dinner. We'd met at a networking event, and I told her, as you do when you meet someone, your abridged life story. And I was talking about the rebrand, and talking about how I was going to rebrand as Emma Lovell, but really, a lot of my services would, well, a lot of my messaging would stay the same.
03:38
But then I mentioned the travel that I do, and I mentioned retreats and Liv and I fleshed that out, and we dove in a little bit more. And she was like, Oh no, this is so much more than that. And I realized I had to rethink everything I was doing. And this around the same time that I committed to the book as well. I always thought that I was going to write a business book and a travel book. I didn't realize. I thought it was gonna be like a how to travel, and then travel stories, and then here's how to do business. And funnily enough, the original business book I thought I would do was on personal brand, and how to live and love your brand,
04:14
not to live and love your life and so but when I did start to kind of look into it. I had been doing this all along, and that was where the pleasure. Pleasure isn't my word. It was actually founded, or, well, started by two forecasters in 2009
04:34
which is, funnily enough, the year that I started my business. But without knowing this term called pleasure, I was living it, but my version of leisure is different. Leisure, in their terminology, is combining business and leisure. So going on a business trip and, you know, say, a conference, and staying on, going for a business meeting and turning into a holiday. For me, pleasure is a lifestyle. Pleasure is a philosophy.
05:00
Pleasure is a way of living. Pleasure is is life. It is how you combine working or making money, more importantly, because you can make money at at all ages, even nine year old at a garage sale or a 79 year old selling their paintings or doing a bit of Uber driving or working in a cafe, whatever you choose to do, investing in shares, however, you can still be making money at any age, any stage, whatever you choose. For leisure, for me, leisure is travel, but leisure can be, you know, doing puzzles. It could be reading books. It could be writing books. It could be painting. There's so many forms of leisure, but it's doing what you love, and self care is the other thing that I think is missing from the pleasure, because
05:49
if you're doing all the business and all the like holidays, and you just business travel, business travel, let work travel. Work Travel.
05:56
You know you might be burning the candle at both ends, and guess you're living life to the max, but you're not really taking care of yourself. And that, for me, travel is an act of self care. It is a form of self care, but also
06:10
just really being mindful about not pushing everything too far.
06:17
So
06:19
although, like I said, in september 2023
06:25
I launched the website. I did actually change my website all over everything
06:30
to Emma Lovell like color palette change and that sort of thing. But we sort of still had it felt like the visual element was not really nailed, like
06:42
it wasn't, it was sort of like, we'll get to that, and I'll just just this will be great for now, and definitely, you know, established working under my own name and not working under a business name. So lovely communications. Loved it. She got me to where I am today, but put her to bed.
07:00
But I think when you're doing a rebrand and you're adjusting and you're to this message and this new way of working, although it's me, I'm talking in a different way. I've talked about my services for years and years and years, in a way, I come from a communications background, so originally it was PR marketing, social media and copywriting was what I did, you know, then i was running a pet sitting business, and so I'm talking about the pet sitting business and this business. Then I'm talking about the travel writing. And so, you know, trying to talk about all those pieces and parts, and then trying to find how they harmonize and come into alignment.
07:37
You're in the messy middle. And this is something that people don't talk to you about if you're looking to rebrand, or if you're looking to start something new. There's this sort of middle time that's messy, and there's no avoiding it. And I thought this rebrand. I thought we'd be coming out with this at the same time as the book. I thought this would be coming out in August. And, my goodness, it has been a process.
08:00
But these things take time. It's time for you to become this, like to be. It's a way of being. You know, this isn't just it isn't just my business. I am the face of my business. I'm the spokesperson, I am the driver, I'm the visionary, I'm the CEO, I'm the deliverer, you know. And I have wonderful people supporting me in that, but it is ultimately, I'm the face of the business. The business is driven by me. So I need to acclimatize and become accustomed to operating in this way, and this sort of this inertia that you have to get past from the way you used to be. And so I think for anyone who is in that like, I see you, I hear you, I feel you, I deeply feel you.
08:47
And I realized, you know, I'd actually been
08:50
running my business 15 years. I had never done a branding exercise like this. And that's ironic, because, you know, I talk about personal branding, but actually, with that, I
09:01
I stand by what I did, and that you don't have to come out the gate with this big, shiny, fancy brand, whatever like you are, your brand. You know, I'm me. That's not changing. I am who I am, that's that's not changing. But how I how I show up, what I'm offering, those sorts of things have changed how I present. Changes the role and titles that I'm using. They're changing. I have grown. I have evolved. Have changed. I'm fundamentally who I am. But I think sometimes we just think about a brand as colors and logos and the photo, but it's not that a brand is is how is this? What I used to teach brand is how you see yourself and how the world sees you. That's personal brand. It's the middle any brand you know, the brand puts out their message and how they want to be perceived, but it's also how they are perceived by the audience, and that makes up the brand's identity. And so I was very cute.
10:00
Aware of that, and it's just been an evolution
10:04
and a growing into it. And, you know, I didn't actually invest in my my business properly, really, my brand, for 10 years. I did a lot of DIY, a lot of doing it myself, a lot of how to
10:19
but I've learned that to grow and to spread this message further, to help more people I needed my who I needed, the right people on my team, and to invest in them, to invest in myself and yeah, it just I did invest in the change of the website, but to do a full branding exercise like I had never been through this process, and it is huge. It is a big piece of work. It's a very important piece of work. It's an amazing piece of work. I know it's going to set up an amazing foundation for my business, but, my goodness, it is work. And I think we've been on this journey,
10:54
like eight months. So that's how long it's taken. And of course, I was writing a book in between, so that also, let alone the life hiccups and things that I've had. But
11:07
what this is about is, is Emma Lovell, the pleasure coach, this, this, you know, to mean something to you. This is about how I'm embracing, not only, yeah, my personal brand and who I am, but
11:21
my passion, the growth that I've had, the mission I'm on, because I'm trying to make a bigger impact. I want to I want to help more people do what I've been doing. I want to help more people and show you, and help you to live the life that you love, to find a harmony between work and travel and not wait for someday, one day in the future, I feel, I deeply believe, that it's possible for you to find your own mix, your own way. You know, I talk about, it's not about balance, work life balance. We've got to stop using that term. Even Jeff Bezos of Amazon, like him or not, mentioned it in a talk, and I saw this clip, and he's saying, let's call it work, life, harmony. And I was like, yes, Jeff, you know, because harmony talks about flow. Harmony talks about ups and downs. And you know, when you think about an orchestra, how they play together, and you know, it all works. And when it's in harmony, it is beautiful, but balance feels like this, you know? And if it's not 5050,
12:19
then it's nothing. And I just think that's such a fallacy, such a
12:25
false thing to work towards, because it's just, it's just, it's never going to be 5050, it's never going to be perfect. But if you can strive for harmony and making it work for you in whatever season of life you're in, that is the freedom. That is the freedom to change, the freedom to choose, the freedom to to make it your life what you want it to be.
12:47
That's what I want to share. So
12:52
my desire for freedom is overrides most things that I do, my love of travel, my passion for travel, travel and freedom are going to intertwined for me, I'm looking up at the wall because I can see the things that mean the most to me.
13:08
Love having energy, adventure, freedom, freedom and adventure to me, talk to travel and wealth, you know, and having, you know, enough, not more than enough, to live the life that I want to live, but also to be able to support and give generously and to help others. I love being able to help people, but you know, I know I can also be generous and help people to build their wealth by growing their business, but also to build their wealth. Wealth is a wealth of health, a wealth of travel, a wealth of experience, a wealth of love, a wealth of family, a wealth, you know, just abundance of all the good things that you want. And you don't need a lot of money to do the things that I've done, but it certainly does help. So if we can increase your income and find more ways to make money to do the things that you want, I'm all about that. I'm also here to share like, the hacks and all of my tips, the ways that I do it. I'm so passionate about that
14:07
it's something I shared in my book, and I'll continue to share like it is just such a win for me when I get to see people taking on the guidance, the advice, the tips that I share, and getting to do, to do more of what they love as well. I It's just such a such a joy. So combining these parts of me, the passion I have, the business and making money and growing things and creating things, and then the passion I have for traveling, exploring, adventures, seeing the world,
14:36
I just have found my lane, like I found
14:39
I can't believe I can't believe
14:43
I didn't see it earlier, but this is the way things are. Can't believe it was one dinner, one fateful dinner, that helped me to see this all coming together.
14:55
I can't believe that I get to do what I love and I get to share it with all of you.
15:00
A like, a little Emma would just be like, Whoa.
15:04
And it just, when you find,
15:08
you know, I think it's a cliche, but like, your purpose when you find what lights you up, when you find what you're excited about, you can talk about until you're blue in the face. Like, having people come up to me, like, you know, because that's pleasure. Or like, oh yeah, I was doing bit of pleasure. Or, Oh yeah, I'm gonna add more pleasure to my like, I mean, people's goals, you know, 2025, goals is like, more pleasure. I'm like, Yes,
15:32
I just, I'm so overjoyed, and it feels so good to be doing what I love and sharing it with you all,
15:41
that my job is now my job is, and always has been, I feel, but to inspire, motivate, encourage you to to live the life that you love. I will keep saying that line over and over again because I stand by it, to have this book that shares that, and to know that there's more books to come and that that my job is author, and that my job is speaker, and speaking about the things that I write about. I'm so excited for that. I'm so excited to go into companies, to go into schools, go into universities, to go into communities and speak about this, this pleasure that it's a philosophy, it's a lifestyle, it's a way of being. It's a movement that we can all embrace, so that we can stop waiting for one day or someday in the future, so that you can live the life that you love today.
16:33
Because the reason this all actually really came to a head,
16:39
and I knew that I didn't have time to wait anymore was that in january 2023 my nephew was diagnosed with a terminal illness, and he passed away in July of 2024
16:51
at age two and a half,
16:55
which isn't right.
16:59
It isn't right and isn't fair, but it is life,
17:04
and it sucks. Sometimes
17:07
it's been really hard,
17:10
but I
17:12
the only thing I can take from my nephew's journey,
17:18
Louis Lovell,
17:20
is that we have to live now, and you do what you can with what you can, what you have. And Louis was
17:30
at two and a half years old, he ticked two six things off a list with my brother and his wife, and he's probably seen more of his local area than most people have seen their whole life. And you just keep saying, one day, one day I'll do that thing. Someday I'll write a book, one day I'll go to that place, one day I'll do that course. One day I'll start my business. One day I will live my life.
17:58
And you just don't know.
18:00
And in August, 2023
18:03
Well, in March, 23 three, my grandmother passed away, and you can read all about this in my book. It's so joyful, yeah,
18:11
2023 was hard.
18:13
And in August, 2023 right before I launched my new website,
18:19
my two girlfriends, two dear friends, died of breast cancer. Two in two weeks, like it was absolutely brutal. And in September 2023, I committed to writing my book because I could not wait any longer. I could not put this off. I cannot put you cannot keep delaying your dreams because you just don't know if you're going to get one day. And I'm not saying copy DM league for today, burn all your money, go jump out of a plane. That's not That's not it. This is about choosing to to live the life that you love, to choose freedom, to choose to make it work for you, and to take one step towards that today, to to find, to think about the harmony every day. Okay, how can this, how can this work together better? How can I do more of what I love? How can I, when my son comes in tonight, spend time with him, because I say that that's important to me, you know? How can I go for a walk each day, if that's important to me? Okay, well, I can't go for a walk. Well, I'm going to jump in the pool. Okay? How can I move my body after this podcast? Like, what can I do if I say these things are important to me, I've got to do them. And it can be the smallest things that make the biggest change.
19:32
But there's so much more to talk about on this,
19:35
so much more to come.
19:38
So I would just,
19:40
you know, I'm so grateful for you being with me on the journey. We're up to 100 and something episodes, 110 or so episodes on this podcast. Thank you for listening. Thank you for listening to live and love your brand, my past, my last podcast, or my podcast before that, lovely travels. We all still exist. Thank you. If you were with me on day one, I can.
20:00
2009 or and if you're still here in 2025
20:04
I thank you. I thank you for anybody who's been with me, any part of the journey. You're all of these experiences, everything I've been through, the ups, the downs, the challenges, the wins, all of it, have got me to where I am today, and I'm so excited to share more of that with you. So the
20:22
evolution, is coming. The what you'll see some changes. You'll see some different things. So what is changing the website? So the look of the feel of my brand, you'll you'll notice the difference, new images, new colors, new visuals. I hope you enjoy it. Please go and have a look. It's been a big piece of work. So that's Emma lovell.au
20:44
retreats are changing, so I've announced it for the first time here on the podcast, but I am hosting my first ever be leisure life retreat that will be in Nepal, and this is the inaugural pleasure life retreat. They will be an annual event, just the one international retreat I'll be hosting, and that will be under my new company, rest and receive So more to come on that. But the retreats business is being removed from the Emma Lovell brand and the Emma Lovell pleasure coaching, and it's going to live in its whole new home in a new company. So that is, that is a big change, but a very, very exciting one. And I can't wait to see that grow and evolve. But yes, I will be hosting the pleasure life retreat, the first one in Nepal in November 2025, and I would love to see you there. You can look at that at Emma level. Oh, actually, I'm going to change the address. Can be rest and receive.au forward slash Nepal, but you can find it at Emma lovell.au as well. If you're on my email list, you'll see more about it too. So what else is changing? A whole lot more speaking. So speaking, presenting and Emma seeing will become the primary part of my business. So you're going to be seeing me on a whole lot more virtual and visible stages around the world sharing this wonderful message of pleasure. And if it's something that you think would be good for your audience, please do reach out. I can't wait to share more. And as you can probably tell from my podcast, I love speaking. It's my passion. There's
22:18
going to be more books, so watch this space. I am an author now, and it's hot, a title that I am extremely proud of. And I have many, many more ideas to share many, many more books. And I will be working on my second book this year, which will be coming out. I thought it would come out this year, but it's probably going to come out in 2026 but I will be working on it in 2025 so watch this space.
22:43
I will be doing less coaching. So that is changing. I'll be late doing less one on one coaching.
22:50
It will be available to people who have attended my retreats or come to us to an event.
22:57
It just won't be something that I'm offering as much, because I do want to support more people in a different way. And so the other way that I'm going to be doing that is through my course, which will be launching in, I believe, April or May. Let's just put that out there. We're working on it at the moment, and that is called the pleasure life plan. So off the back of the art of pleasure book, there will be a course that will support you to start to harmonize your business, travel and self care now. So you can get on the wait list for that at Emma level.au, there will be some wonderful offers for anyone who signs up on the wait list and gets in there early. So what's staying the same. My name,
23:43
I'm Emma Lovell. The website will still be Emma lovell.au, but the everything will look different. I love working as my name. I love having the freedom and the flexibility to create whatever it is my audience needs. But I am also now taking on the title of pleasure coach, so which is super fun. So yeah, or the honesty, authenticity and fun of my brand will stay the same. I'm relentlessly honest and authentic, and you will still always get that from me. You get me crying, you get me doing whatever I am me, and you will see that. And the other thing that's staying the same is lots of travel, lots and lots of travel
24:29
that is not reducing in any way, shape or form, if anything is going to be more. So stay tuned to doing vicariously along the adventures. But I will be sharing more about how I do it and how you can as well. And I will give you every tip, trick, hack,
24:46
I don't know, discount, freebie, resource I can so that you can do more of it as well.
24:52
Okay, I think that's enough for today. This was a big, a long time coming. I.
25:00
Built it up to be a big thing as well, which is so I'm really happy that we've
25:06
been here today. Thank you for listening. Um,
25:10
I, you know, yeah, I'm really proud of myself. Um,
25:14
it's been a big Oh my gosh. I just really got one earring.
25:18
I'm proud of myself for getting dressed, getting one earring on. That's cool? Um, I am proud of myself for going through this process. I'm proud of myself for investing in in myself for backing myself. Running a business is no joke.
25:35
Anyone listening? Hats off to you. So,
25:40
yeah, running a business is huge, and I'm so proud of everything that I've achieved over the past 15 years and more. And even, you know, the last 18 months have been an absolute whirlwind in getting here, and it's so exciting to be able to share it with you and to grow it and evolve it more with you. So the Emma Lovell show the podcast is staying the same. You'll see a new look cover. You'll see new look
26:09
images and fun things coming out afterwards. But
26:14
