I Bought a business

00:01:09: I'm gonna cut straight to the chase because, you know casual leisure life.

00:01:38: I have eight minutes before i had go pick up my son and just was like...I have do this today!

00:01:42: I bought a business actually last year in.... Well the process started in June, I think we finalised by September.

00:01:53: These things take time.

00:01:54: it is now August and tomorrow we are officially launching.

00:01:58: so i will do another episode next week which will have a lot more details about what we're doing.

00:02:03: but The Business is called Retreat Me Happy Now.

00:02:06: that totally makes sense.

00:02:07: It's perfect for me because I'm very happy.

00:02:11: Quite a joyful person.

00:02:12: But also retreats has become A huge part of my world business.

00:02:17: So yes you are correct in acknowledging that I have three businesses, I have Emma Lovell the blazer coach which is predominantly what we talk about here on the podcast Business Travel and Self-Care.

00:02:29: ,I Have Rest & Receive Which i thought was going to be retreat hosting as well as helping supporting people to run their retreats.

00:02:38: And...i think a lot of what i wanted to do with That Is now Going into this new business Retreat Me Happy.

00:02:43: so they all work together, but Rest & Receive has predominantly become a consulting company as well.

00:02:49: As we have of course and also done for you.

00:02:54: so that's kind the road that Rest & Recieves ended up going down.

00:02:58: I'm hosting a lot less myself because i am being business owner!

00:03:04: in and I just feel like i can help so many more retreat hosts.

00:03:07: And that's what Retreat Me Happy will do as well, I'm always getting people asking me Can you promote my retreat?

00:03:12: Can you share My Retreat?

00:03:14: Do You Know a Yoga Instructor or a Photographer?

00:03:16: A Venue I Could Use?

00:03:17: Like I get asked this all the time!

00:03:20: And RetreatMeHappy...I thought The thing That Would Just Make This Business Complete Is A

00:03:24: Directory!!

00:03:26: And.. I Actually Thought About Purchasing This Website.

00:03:30: I Knew The Owner.

00:03:31: She Started It very unfortunately in December, two thousand nineteen.

00:03:36: But the website was great and she was thriving but you didn't really get to go on retreats herself in those few years.

00:03:45: The platform got known and it grew like me that founder Sarah Wilmott had three businesses at the time And so as much of her love for the concept her passions have gone elsewhere.

00:04:03: And you know, I think there's this wonderful book i've got on my shelf back there called Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert and it talks about their ideas.

00:04:10: um and ideas don't belong to us they're just our ideas out in the cloud out in The Aether...and if you might have an idea but if you don't do something with that idea then it's going to go to someone else!

00:04:22: So whilst..you know....the website has done great its been around for five-and-a-half years.

00:04:30: you know, if you're not able to sort of be active with it then it goes away.

00:04:35: And so I did actually think about approaching the year before, approaching Sarah to buy it and then i thought...I started to see my activity again and i thought oh..i don't want him no!

00:04:45: i don't wanna do

00:04:45: that!!

00:04:46: So i'll just....you know at the time was probably not really in a position either and i though i'll wait.

00:04:51: Then June last year she slides into my DMs says hey

00:04:54: Emma!!!

00:04:54: I'm thinking about selling the website.

00:04:56: would you buy it?

00:04:58: Yes, I was like please pick me.

00:05:01: And she said well i've come to you so sure and obviously just a lot of back-and-forths.

00:05:06: um there's quite a lot to hand over when you buy business.

00:05:09: this we had the trademark.

00:05:11: We had accounts need to be changed into your name logins because it's...the businesses been over multiple years.

00:05:19: You know things live all around the place.

00:05:21: So anyway..we did all that then....I did nothing.

00:05:26: I did a lot of talking about it.

00:05:31: Not worrying about it, but not knowing how it would look and quite frankly I didn't have the capacity.

00:05:36: In in the meantime i have written a book another book!

00:05:39: I wrote A Life of Magic as well as you know still promoting The Art Of Pleasure.

00:05:44: uh...I went into full-time parenting.

00:05:46: if you've heard some of my early episodes um..my son wasn't in childcare at the end last year.

00:05:51: we've had travels.

00:05:53: My India business has grown ,My Retreat Consulting Business Has Grown where Im helping people to run these retreats in South Asia.

00:06:00: so you know there's just been a lot of I don't know different things that have come up and it sort of, i know as well from writing my books and doing these big projects.

00:06:10: That you can hold on to a dream for a long time!

00:06:12: And so whilst I've said you know that idea might go to someone else...I knew that this is meant for me and I knew that Retreat Me Happy is..i'm meant to be the custodian of this business And that's what I'm calling myself because Sarah is the founder and i'll always acknowledge her as a founder.

00:06:26: So, I am calling myself The Owner or The Custodian which has really nice term.

00:06:31: I think can...I feel like im going to be good steward for this business!

00:06:34: Im gonna be a good guardian & guide but..the difference with these businesses it not about me.

00:06:42: so Emma Lovell the Blazor Coach, I AM the blazor coach , I live the blazer life Part of my DNA, you know I'm always gonna be doing business travel and self-care And obviously this business very much fits in with that rest to receive.

00:06:55: You know where?

00:06:55: I thought they're still do.

00:06:57: i think we can get other consultants In and I think We Can grow the business and I can have event planners and managers and people That could work within their Business.

00:07:05: Primarily I am The consultant as if your coming To rest or receive you're Gonna learn from me in the course.

00:07:11: the bledger life plan are going to learn for Me.

00:07:14: You Know these things.

00:07:15: They're Going to Be me driven.

00:07:17: Whereas this is my business, Retreat Me Happy Is My Business.

00:07:22: but I just think it's really the users and audience that are going to grow.

00:07:28: So our tagline is Bringing The World Of Retreats Together.

00:07:32: We say Discover Connect Retreat.

00:07:35: so you come here too.

00:07:36: we have like kind of an audience who want to discover retreat.

00:07:39: they're looking to go on a retreat or potentially Go To A Retreat Venue to attend a retreat.

00:07:46: But also we have this whole other side, which is the venues themselves.

00:07:51: The retreat hosts and the suppliers because that's the biggest thing.

00:07:54: people are always asking me like could you recommend a caterer?

00:07:56: Could you recommend so many logistical components?

00:07:59: People just think pretty venue I'll run a retreat but how're gonna get food there?

00:08:05: do want to take photos?

00:08:07: Do you have yoga instructor?

00:08:08: can they get massages?

00:08:10: what if he wanted to activities Like?

00:08:12: there's some people who provide to the retreat industry that weren't getting a place.

00:08:17: To be shown and showcased.

00:08:18: so I think this supplier space is going to be really interesting one, we're gonna grow.

00:08:23: there were venues listed but not at the forefront.

00:08:27: So i really want to bring everyone together.

00:08:30: We have already... There's a bunch of articles on there But we are putting up articles.. We've got newsletters where people can subscribe get to know our hosts, our venues or suppliers.

00:08:40: We'll have features in there.

00:08:43: we do have place for advertisements on the site and we have a few advertisers already up there.

00:08:47: um... And then we will also have as well a podcast that would be starting.

00:08:51: so you probably get less retreat content over here.

00:08:55: moving forward I'm gonna put it towards The Retreat Me Happy podcast.

00:09:00: So that's gonna be on YouTube predominantly, but going out to the podcast channels.

00:09:04: always where we'll talk to retreat hosts suppliers venues I'll share episodes about tips and tricks And then will probably bring in my rest or receive so there'd be no restaurant seat podcast.

00:09:15: two is enough.

00:09:16: I'm talking very fast because i've got a go-out But I just wanted to share...I think you can see like if your watching video Or If You're Hearing This..I Think You Can Hear.

00:09:23: I'm Like Radiating With Joy.

00:09:26: I feel quite emotional that this is coming to life, like...to talk about something and dream of something.

00:09:31: And you know for everyone else it's new in news!

00:09:34: For me.

00:09:34: i've been sitting on these for well..you know?

00:09:38: Like four ten months or longer because i had the vision of this for longer.

00:09:43: um and then also a friend just texted me.

00:09:45: she was like ''I had a dream you were pregnant with baby girl''.

00:09:49: It was so lovely to see you, so radiant and have a great day.

00:09:52: And I was like well actually i'm birthing this business or even...I think that this is just the start!

00:09:59: ...and it's gestating still and all that sort of stuff.

00:10:01: for all the analogies This is my little girl.

00:10:04: They're retreat me happy on birthing this little girl and as we the being a parent I think you are The guide in the Guardian, and the custodian And I will nurture it for as long as it needs me.

00:10:15: But yeah It's very much part of welcome retreat.

00:10:17: be happy to the pleasure ecosystem.

00:10:19: So um...the empire is growing!

00:10:24: Yeah, a lot of work to come.

00:10:26: A lot of updates and changes has been full on week.
