Emma Lovell 00: Do you want to live a life of freedom and adventure? Are you wanting more than the daily grind? Me too. Welcome to the Emma Lovell show, a place where we talk about living a life you love now, I'm your host, Emma Lovell, and my number one value is freedom. I've spent the last 14 years running your business and travelling the world. And now I take my husband and toddler along for the adventure to it's possible and I know you can create a life doing what you truly love as well. This podcast will inspire, motivate and encourage you to go after your dreams to create a life you love and to live it now not wait for retirement or someday in the future. I'll be sharing episodes weekly about how I harmonise business travel and self care. I'll also bring on incredible guests to share their journeys, the winds, the challenges, and how they're creating a life they love. Let's jump in and get dreaming. This is a space for you to manifest a life you love. I would like to acknowledge and recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first peoples of this place now known as Australia. I am grateful for the continuing care of the land waterways and skies where I work, live, listen, learn and play. From here on you can bear country and from wherever you are listening, I pay my respects to the elders past and present. Hello, and welcome to today's podcast. It's a funny one. Today I'm going to be talking about my upcoming trip and how I'm preparing and planning to travel and run the business. So we are heading off for three weeks is a family and then I'm going to be overseas for another two weeks as I run my India retreat, so that the rest and receive retreat in India. It's my first international retreat. In this style. I have run group trips overseas before but this is a business retreat in India. And I'm so excited. I've got six wonderful people coming along with me. And I cannot wait to share the experience with them. But first, I'm having a holiday and the holiday stemmed from I don't even know actually I just think I just think we wanted to have some time. Originally it's going to be six weeks, I would have been away or we would have left had a conference on Caitlin's conference till the eighth of October. I was going to leave straight after that. And then a wonderful conference that I go to an annual conference movers and breakers with business checks that got moved to the 16th of October. And as it's one of my highlights of the year. And also I will be speaking on the business panel hosting business panel, which is a beautiful speaking gig that I love. I didn't want to miss it. So we ended up deciding to move the trip back. Which considering the year we've had, we've had a pretty full on year. But we've had quite a lot of grief in my world in my family. My I don't think I've mentioned this yet on the podcast. My nephew, Louis, who is my brother's son was diagnosed with a terminal illness in January of 2023. And at that time, it's a rare genetic condition. He was 11 months at the time. And he's been given one to two years to live. So it's been a very emotional and difficult year. Along with that, I've lost my grandmother image. And I lost two friends to breast cancer in August. So it's been a lot, let alone carrying on the business, travelling for events and travel for pleasure as well. So this trip, I think having just a few weeks away was really important. I wasn't actually Sure. Even three or four weeks ago, I'm recording this a week before we leave. If we were going to make it if we were going to go it just felt like it was a lot and obviously financially it's a lot. Three airfares across the other side of the world is a lot. And I wasn't sure if it was the right thing to do. But then it's a bit extreme. But I realised I've been travelling quite a bit. I've had a lot of family commitments, a lot of business commitments. And I just wanted to have time with my boys. I really was craving that. And so I thought we don't know how long we get. We don't know what's going to happen. I want this time with them. I want quality time with them. And if that means going to the other side of the world, so be it. It's also good timing because it's my cousin's wedding on the third of November. So we tied that in he's in the UK. So we'll be going there for his wedding. And we've I also have a very magical extra time. I have a relative he's my grandma's cousin. So that's my father's mother's cousin. He's my first cousin twice removed. His name is Bill Hunter, and he's 100 years old. He's one of my favourite people in the world. And I have a tattoo on my wrist of an ace. Because the ace of spades actually, because he is a magician, and has been a magician for 75 years performing magic, even the day after his 100th birthday. We watched him perform a show this year in February in Palm Springs. So he got invited on a veterans tour, to go to Normandy, Belgium, and Luxembourg, to go with some places where the World War Two events happened. And I got, we decided to go and join him. So for some of that, so we changed the plan a bit. The original plan was a lot of the UK, then we're going to Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, Albania. And I was trying to squeeze in Kosovo. So Balkans, that's the Balkans region, and they're all next door to each other, we were going to hug the coast, sometimes driving just a couple of hours to get into a new place, sometimes a little bit further. But when we change the itinerary we've now added in with flying from Albania, to Belgium, and then driving to Luxembourg to meet my kasi bill. And so we now have just five nights in the Balkans, but we are still gonna go to Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia, and Albania. I know right now, this might be making your toes curl. hearing me talk like this. But I love Europe for this reason. I think it's incredible coming from the largest island in the world, smallest continent, but coming from a floating continent, where we can't go to any other country. Unless we fly or catch a boat. I get so excited about the fact that you can just drive next door and you can be in an entirely different culture, different language, different food, everything in a matter of hours. The reason I got into podcasting was actually doing a trip like this in 2019, end of 2019, I drove through the Baltic region, and we've visited five countries in two days, I was flew from Germany to Poland, we drove to then Lithuania, we drove then to Latvia, and Estonia, over two days. So we spent four days there, but it was pretty incredible to do that. So that's what me and my family are doing. So my son and my husband, we're doing that. And then we will be flying to Belgium. I'll be back in just a minute. Hey, lovely. I want to open the door to incredible opportunities for you on an all inclusive luxury retreat exclusively for leaders who are ready to attract the work and life they want. Join me for five inspiring nights in incredible India for the first ever international rest and receive retreat, hosted in Kerala, India, by me from the 12th to the 17th of November 2023. Disconnect your senses and immerse in this exotic cultural Hall reconnecting with yourself. Share this luxurious experience with 12 amazing women and you'll form connections and memories to last a lifetime. I can't undersell or overestimate the incredible power of the magic of India. And I want to share it with you get all the details via the show notes. But you can also head to my website, Emma lovell.au, forward slash rest hyphen, receive hyphen India. I would love to see there. And I'm happy to have a chat if this is peeking your interest at all. Please come along and experience the magic of rest and receive. So yes, after a whirlwind five days, we will be going to Belgium and Luxembourg. Again, they're right next door to each other and we'll be driving there will fly then from Belgium to the UK. We will stay with some family and then spend three days in a place called Arling him in Gloucester shear which is right near the border of Wales. I keep forgetting that we're actually going to as well spend a day we're going to pop down as you do, again to Cardiff in Wales because despite the fact that my family's from the UK, I've been to the UK about 15 times. I have not actually been to Wales inside Wales into Scotland. I've been to Northern Ireland. I have not been to Wales. I know. Sorry. I've been to Ireland. I haven't been to Northern Ireland. So yes, I definitely want to go to but this is my thing. I My goal is to visit every un recognised country in the world. I mean, if I can get Every country in the world, that would be amazing. But there's 195 un recognised countries. And there are probably about 235 Two and a 40, depending on the time, countries. And there are a few people in the world who have done it, I think maybe it's like 100, or something who've actually done it, I want to be one of those people. goal is by the hammock 50. So knocking off seven countries in a row is kind of what I'm doing. It's not the style of travel for everyone. It's not the style of travel that I always do. But I can tell you, it's really fun. And the fact that my husband has said yes, is awesome. We were looking though, when I when I added in the plan of changing the itinerary to add in Belgium and Luxembourg, I was feeling a little concern for my husband, it is quite hectic, it did add some cost. But then when I looked at it, I kind of told myself out for like three nights planning this, during the logistics, looking at different hotels, looking at the different flight combinations, and it was quite limited. We had to get into Albania, to fly to Belgium and was the only direct flight. We couldn't find companies that could do crossover country car hire. So picking up the country, the car in one country leaving it in another, I did end up finding one for that again, which was great. And then we could fly into Montenegro and not have to backtrack into Albania. But yeah, it's it was a borderline, which part is fun, fun, like researching and looking and seeing the possibilities. And then when does it slip into the anxiety and anxiousness of should I do this, or should I do that, and the analysis paralysis. And usually it's my husband, Matt, who's in analysis paralysis, but this time, it was me was kind of getting a bit worried about the money thing. And it was like $100 here or there, you know, it's probably going to end up costing us $1,000 or $1,500. Extra. And it was like, you know, I'm not not being frivolous about money. But you know, In for a penny in for a pound already spending quite a lot of money. This is an incredible trip, we've been waiting to go to this part of the world for a long time. And, you know, in a few years, my son will be in school, and we have to work around school holidays. So I want to take this opportunity while I have it. And if this year's told me nothing else, it's that we have to make the most of the times that we have. And I know that in a year or 215 $100, I won't even think about it, I don't even know, I can't put them in there to tell you apart from this podcast, and I was worried about it. So we just booked it. And now it's done. And I can feel excited, we've got entered anticipation. And so then from the UK, we will fly to India. And we're going to have four days in Mumbai, staying with some of my beautiful friends who I consider family, and my son will get to meet them for the first time. It's really important part of the trip. For me, running the retreat in India was a dream of mine for at least four years, I think it's been on the cards for longer than that to one day rather than to run a business, you know, to bring people to India to bring people to this incredible country that I love so much that I visited 12 times in my life, and it has such had such an impact on me. And so to get to do that is incredible. And to share that with my boys, that was part of the vision that was part of the dream. I literally visioned my ideal day, a year or two ago doing a meditation. And that day was waking up in India with my boys. And then during the retreat, so spreading it across a couple of days. But getting to work, getting to work with my clients, getting to be in a place that I love and getting to spend time with my boys. That's a dream. And it's going to happen. So just over a couple of days instead. So they're going to leave on the 11th. I'm going to leave on the 12th. And yeah, I feel very, very well I leave for Kerala on the 12th. And then I'm having an extension in Delhi and Agra to show them my clients, the capital as well as the the fabulous Taj Mahal in Agra. So I didn't really get to talk about I've kind of got to go, I want to talk about how I'm going to make the work work. But I'll tell you quickly, I'm going to do one to two hours a day, keep on top of my emails. I'm not going to work on weekends, I'm going to work one to two hours a day, checking emails, doing my social posts, I really want to track the journey. I really want to show everybody what I'm doing, where I'm at, you know what's happening, what it looks like on a day to day so really, I can share that every day. That'll be over on my instagram at Emma lovell.au. I'll share highlight posts or what to Facebook and I'll share kind of some summaries to LinkedIn. It's not as much of that space but I'd still like to share it there and tell people what I'm up to. I do have a podcast recording booked in while I'm away at least one I'll probably try and do a couple of summary episodes while I'm away just to keep it fresh. Otherwise, I've banked the podcast up until mid November, which is really exciting. And then I'll be looking at. I'm also doing a speaking presentation online webinar in November for a wonderful organisation. And I will be doing that while I'm away. I've organised the timezone, so it will be getting up early. But it's one hour out of my day. I also plan to be promoting and selling my retreats while I'm away. And my new mini retreat day where I teach people how to run retreats. So I'll be running out in the Gold Coast in the 30th of January. If you are interested in pop me a note in the comments, but I'll be I'll be sharing all about that and and selling that whilst I'm away. So we'll be earning an income as I go. In terms of deliverable work. It's only really the podcast recordings, the webinar and potentially a few calls if people are really keen, that will be it. Otherwise, it'll all the back end, and socials. That's how I'm gonna run my business and travel the world on this particular trip. I'll report back on how it goes and how I did it. I'll probably be a little bit longer episode a little bit more structured. But I just wanted to share the plan ahead of time of what that looks like. I might have to do an episode about packing and things like that. If that's of interest to you, let me know. Reach out to me to talk to you. Thank you Thank you for listening lovely one.
